Nanoha. It has begun....

Mahou Senki Lyrical Nanoha. (Magical War Chronicle Lyrical Nanoha)
The 4th installment to the Nanoha series. (And just recently, they had given us Vivid. But it seems these two will be publishing around the same time)

One of the most surprising things i find is that its no longer Magical Girl. its now Magical War Chronicles! A slight deviation from the title, but i guess that from this, they can focus more on the other characters instead of just Nanoha now.

It is good t see what will happen after StrikerS, now along with Vivid, with more belkan story, and now this. its like yippee!! ^___________^

Unforunately, like most other new upcomming series, people will be *cough*scanlating*cough* showing them slowly.

Review: Eden of the East

So i had finally decided to do a review on this after i said so a few months ago xD
For a better grasp, i decided to rewatch it, and the story is so much better.

Lil edit: Started off with the summary, then the body. But then i put in the first few lines and felt that this done it much more justice, i labeled that as the teaser.

Teaser:
"He had no choice but to become a prince. At any rate, he realised that a scapegoat known as a 'prince' is needed to usher in the future we hope for. That's why he became a prince, although reluctantly. In this world where kings don't even exist... Just how did he become a prince? I still haven't uncovered that secret."

Basic Summary: Takizawa Akira is found naked holding a pistol, a cellphone and with no memory. On trying to see what is what, and who he is, he discovers that the cell phone he holds contains about 8 billion yen, and it can almost grant any wish or desire of his. However, this is only in accordance in the actions to save Japan.

My Thoughts:
Aww man!
My summary doesn't do this story justice xD I even remember first reading the summaries that were out and they didn't sound interesting at all either :/
However, i am glad i did follow this anime.

This series actually has something interesting, that we go discover why Akira has no memory when we start. What's more interesting is that on the rewatch, i picked up the first few lines. It's actually Saki telling us:
"He had no choice but to become a prince. At any rate, he realised that a scapegoat known as a 'prince' is needed to usher in the future we hope for. That's why he became a prince, although reluctantly. In this world where kings don't even exist... Just how did he become a prince? I still haven't uncovered that secret."
Those few lines really tell a lot, but as you go into the series, i had actually forgotten this. And when you reach the ending, it actually brings about a full circle. However, this is only achieved when you remember those lines xD And pick up a few small details such as Akira erases his memories again as he makes his last request.

Eden of the East incorporates touching scenes and moments that involve the emotional and mentality of people. If you were in this situation, would you have done this? or done something else? Would you still do this even if you knew the outcome would be a sad one? Man... akira cheated here! he wiped his memory!! >_< despite having that memory or at least the events catch up to him
Even if you are not interested in that kind of thing, there are still interesting 'fights' that are done by the various Selecao (The people who have the same phone and ability as Akira. Having their wishes granted). Its like a strategy game, and using the power of authority as though they were pawns.

Without attempting to spoil too much of the story, i shall stop explaining and talking about it, at least plot wise.

The art style isn't too bad, its almost stock standard, however, a bit on the more 'cutesy' side rather than the 'over-power' side. I don't know if i should be dissapointed in the female character designs or not. Sure they might not be the best looking, they are somewhat realistic in the sense that not everyone looks perfect xD
But it is still good on the eyes.

And the Sound Track. This one i do plan to definitely obtain and listen to. The intro and ending songs did grow on me, but i could only properly pay attention to the BGM on the second rewatch (i blame this on the male genetic level that he is aimed to be focused and not multi tasked.)

Final Verdict:
If you want little cute type of anime. If you want something relaxing and laid back. If you want some fist to fist or mecha fight. If you want pantsu shots. If you want bishis. This is probably not for you.

If you want mind games. If you want suspense. If you want plot. If you want tactics. If you want a bit of romance. If you want revolution. If you don't mind Johnnys. This is for you.

I recommend ^_^

Spice and Wolf II

Season 2 of Spice and Wolf is underway.
And already into our first arc, things are blown out of proportion. Our duo are on the verge of breaking up thanks to some young "Knight in Shining Armour". It doesn't exactly help that our hero Lawrence looks old and scruffy. But hey, he's a merchant.

Into the 4th Episode, things are set, both sides the cowardly merchant, and the valiant knight dual off in their challenges. Once again i am dumbfounded by their business talk. I'll have to rewatch the episode just to clarify and understand what they meant by 'selling the future' and will ask my commerce friends if that actually exists or not.

Despite seeing this shaky ground between our lovely duo though, Somewhere in the back of my head it says "they can't break up. Together is what makes the show itself! Unless they plan to have the break up here and now and have Lawrence chasing after her in all manner of commerce-like events @_@ ) But this is one reason why i do like stories even if they might be predictable. I would like to see how they spin it out. Yes i believe that they will triumph over this knight, and have our wise wolf and easy-to-read-cute merchant back together travelling across the lands (though who knows where to now? now that a bombshell has been landed on their original destination). Because as mentioned, if it doesn't, doesn't this mean the show is over? o_O? and we only already just started the second season @_@.....

I now anxiously await the upcomming 5th episode to be available.
Meanwhile my source of Bakemonogatari is slow.
Canaan is what i thought originally. Not going to be that interesting.

Though i might be looking forward to the upcomming season, if what i read is to be right.

Seasonal Lives

The Seasons of our Lives, by George Pan Koulouki.

This is an ebook that i was reading on and off. It dabbles into that our lives, like nature occurs in seasons. Like the earth has its summer, autumn, winter spring. Our lives also follow this pattern apparently.

He undergoes this theory by looking into the bibliographies of famous people and connects the dots to match the patterns. He even has took this little research into the common populace. Enough to convince him that this theory is true.

That in about every 16 to 18 years or so, our lives change in the perspective of happiness to sadness, good luck to bad luck. Of course, it doesn't drastically change from one to another, but like a sine curve, it peaks, then lowers then peaks then rises etc...

however just from that you can't be entirely convinced, so he also has found the other group, which work on the alternative.
Just like when the nothern hemisphere has its summer, the southern hemisphere has its winter. There are two lines of people just like that.

Its a fairly interesting read that i haven't actually finished due to my somewhat busy schedule and what not. But i do aim to finish it, as its got a summary of people's bibliography and what not.

This leads to do YOU think our lives are like that. Our bodies afterall come from here, so whats stopping it from following the same pattern?

Also, would you benefit from knowing that you're in a downslump in life, or a good ole high for the next few years in life?
That is if you can find which line you actually sit on.

None the less, an interesting read to pass the time. It also makes more use of my PDA xD
i feel a bit guilty in its low usage. but i can't use it to connect to my uniwide network -_-...

Kara no Kyoukai - 6

Oblivion Recording.

Photobucket

Kara no Kyoukai has reached its 6th installment. One more to go before its complete.
The only comment i can give after watching this instalment, is that its a bit of a lacklustre compared to its previous installments.

A brief storyline of what this arc about is below. Please highlight to read to avoid spoilers:

We finally get to see Azaka. Mikiya's sister, who is currently at the boarding school. she's also an 'apprentice' to Touko. At the school there is the mysterious 'fairy' incidents where someone apparently had been killed. Thus, Azaka as Touko's apprentice is out on the job to solve this. However, one problem is that Azaka can't see the fairies, but Shiki can. So Shiki goes undercover there to aid in the job.

As mentioned above, this installment is a tad bland. Yes, the artwork remains nice. but not as nice. Yes, the what little action scenes it has is alright, though its apparent that our main cast of Shiki, Tokuo and Mikiya are the side ones this time. Azaka looks like she can pack a punch. Kalafina still is doing the decent songs, and the bgm remains decent.

Despite all that, i reckon this is one of the slowest installments of Kara no Kyoukai, even compared to the first one. Albiet the action scene is refreshing.

My Laptop has returned!

Wooot!!!

i had spent my laptop to warranty last week to get a battery replacement.
It had arrived on monday, but no one was home to sign it off. so it got redelivered today.
my first thought afte ri opened the package was
"OMG! THE BOX IS DIRTY!!! >__<!!!!
Yes correct. i am apalled at the handling of of my box. it is now dirty :(
yes, the MSI tapes do ruin the aesthetics. but the black spots on the box is more pressing.

Second. WOOT!! my laptop is now portable! =D
i can resume bringing it to uni. i was almost getting bored at uni with no laptop.
But befor ethat, i need to install all relevant programs.
i had formatted it beforehand.
This is, afterall my 'working' laptop.

my desktop is good for reading manga as usual, problem lies in anime *sigh*
i got no powerful enough computer to watch the (now almost becomming standard) 720p files. *sigh*

I still owe you guys a Eden of the East review.
