Review: Kurozuka

Before i delve into the review that i had completed watching a long time ago (at the same time as choas;head and ga rei zero), i'll just mention a late Happy Chinese New Year!
And sorry for the quietness, i have been quite busy these past few weeks.

Kurozuka is an action thriller-ish fantasy sci fi anime. We begin the story in Ancient Japan where Kuro meets Kuromitsu. Kuromitsu appears to be the classic japanese beauty living all by herself in the middle of the forest. However, towards the end of the first episode we notice she actually drinks the blood of people. And without a doubt, we'll think she's a vampire.
Also Kuro also joins her in her 'sect' however, his head gets sliced off before the transformation is complete. But lo and behold, he's still alive and he wakes up to a post-apocolypstical Tokyo.

However, he has no memories. Just that an urge to find Kuromitsu. So the story revolves around him trying to find Kuromitsu while dealing with his own amnesia and the sect that is also after Kuromitsu in search of power and immortality.

A nice basic plot, with a few interesting twists and turns. The side characters are decent (though not decent enough for me to remmeber their names, but then, this was quite a while ago). The action scenes were at times a big jaggered, i have a slight dislike in action scenes where a character has superb speed in comparison to their opponents. So when they duke it out, we always tend to see the enemies in slow motion, with our super-character zipping about between opponents, pause, kill and continue. I have rarely found (in memory search) any movie or animation that has done this well. (the Matrix almost done it, but then Neo and Trinity and Morpheus weren't super fast, they just slowed the whole scene done.)

With regards to the ending, this is one of the endings that still has me trying to figure out the whole thing. I've either got a basic gist of it, or my mind had just accepeted it, i wouldn't mind rewatching it from start to finish to see how i can link it all together yet.

The OP sucks, The ED's alright.

This might be something i'd recommend for people like action and a bit of mystery. And maybe vampire... even though there really isn't a vampire so to say.
